HYDERABAD, March 28: Speakers paid rich tributes to late short story writer Prof Syed Zafar Hassan for his services for literature and geography on his 9th death anniversary on Wednesday.

The anniversary was organised by the Sindh University chapter of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat in collaboration with Institute of Sindhology in Jamshoro.

Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Dr Mazharul Haq Siddiqui in his address called upon intellectuals and writers to produce qualitative literature to guide youth and reform society.

Mr Siddiqui said that no writer could match late Hassan in creative literature and stressed the need for publishing his writings as well as stories for the benefit of young writers.

He said that as university teacher late Hassan was an excellent teacher, research scholar and gave great importance to geography as a subject. He announced that the diaries penned by late Hassan would be published.—Bureau
