Aids cases on rise in Chakwal

CHAKWAL, March 28: The HIV/Aids cases were on the rise in district Chakwal while the health department has not taken any tangible step to tackle the deadly disease. According to a report, Chakwal has highest number of Aids victims, which has created growing sense of fear among the people of the district.

Public and social circles have demanded of the provincial health ministry to make local health department a vibrant and equip it with modern facilities so that they provide Aids patients first aid medical facilities. They also demanded of the district health department to install a camp for the blood testing of people.

TRAFFIC JAM: The two-feet stagnant water on Jehlum road is vexing citizens and causing traffic jam.

The residents of the area have complained that they are facing hardships as stagnant water has created a pool on the road. They said that the National Highway Authority (NHA) had constructed a nullah alongside the road but it was blocked by the waste of the city and as a result dirty water accumulated on the road.

They said despite cleaning the nullah, the sanitary staff throws waste in it that results in its blockage. They said that the water accumulated on the road adds to the miseries of the people of the area.—Online
