DADU, March 28: Indian state Madhya Pradesh’s speaker of legislative assembly Eishwar Das Rohani said on Wednesday he had brought a message of love and peace to Pakistan and stressed that Delhi and Islamabad should settle all contentious matters through negotiations.

Talking to journalists at the residence of Gurmukhdas, a local minority leader, and Mr Rohani’s relative he said that people on both sides of the divide wished to see peace flourish between the two countries.Mr Rohani, having attended a conference of Commonwealth parliamentary affairs in Islamabad, came meet his relatives in Dadu. He was accompanied by his principal secretary Dr A. K. Piasi.

Mr Rohani said that his mother’s relatives belonged to Moundar village in Dadu taluka and his father’s relatives were from Manahayon village of Dadu.

He said that he was born in Kharadar, Karachi and Gurmukhdas’ mother was his aunt.

He said that the Hindus living in Sindh were compelled to migrate to India due to politics even though Sindhis had insisted on their staying.

He said that Sindhi community in India was living in peace and termed it a mere propaganda that Sindhis were not happy in India. Sindhis had earned respect and important seats with sheer hard work after migrating from Sindh, he said.

He said that he had been elected MLA thrice and deputy speaker of Madhya Pradesh assembly and now he was speaker of assembly.

Earlier, he visited shrine of Qalandar Lal Shahbaz.

PROTEST: A large number of residents of Sita Road town on Wednesday staged demonstration outside the press club against police for allegedly raided their houses, broke furniture and tortured women and children raiding their homes and subjecting women and children to torture. Wali Dino Chandio who led the protest charged that that officials of Sita road police post, led by ASI Shaman Khoso raided their houses, broke furniture and tortured women and children.

He said that police asked them to hand over Manzoor Chandio who they said was wanted to them in criminal cases. They told police that Manzoor Chandio was not their relative still they issued threats and warned if Manzoor was not handed over to them they would have to face dire consequences.

Earlier, a Wali Dino filed a complaint in the court of district and sessions judge against four police officials, ASI Shaman Khoso, head constable Abdul Jabbar Solangi, constables Akbar and Abdul Qadir for torturing women and children and harassing them.

The judge issued notices to the accused police officials to appear in court on March 31.
