KARACHI, March 28: Rising star Khwaja Hamza continued his giant-killing performance when he notched up 6-4, 6-3 victory over Talha Zubair in the final to annex boys U-11 singles title in the Sindh ranking tennis tournament on the penultimate day at CDGK Sports Complex on Wednesday.This is Hamza’s third title of the year the previous two being in a national and Sindh ranking competitions.

Promising and top seed Zuhair Raza is on course for a triple crown as he made it to the finals of juniors U-17 and boys U-15 singles in addition to boys U-15 doubles with Omer Shahid.

He edged past Mustafa Zaidi 6-4, 6-2 in U-15 semi-final to set a date with Hasham Khan who overcame Abdul Rehman in three sets thriller. The scores were 3-6, 6-0, 7-5.

Zuhair and Hasham have already qualified for the juniors U-17 singles final. The organisers have deferred the final for Thursday. Earlier, they had announced to stage it on Wednesday.

The pair of Zuhair and Omer Shahid cruised into the boys U-15 doubles final by getting the better of duo Adil Kohari/Mustafa Zaidi 6-3, 6-3. On the other hand, Talha Saeed/Abdul Rehman won the other pre-final against Nameer Shamsi/Muneeb Khan 6-3, 6-7, 6-4 in contrasting style.

Boys U-15 singles (semi-finals):

Hasham Khan bt Abdul Rehman 3-6, 6-0, 7-5; Zuhair Raza bt Mustafa Zaidi 6-4, 6-2.

Boys U-15 doubles (semi-finals):

Zuhair Raza/Omer Shahid bt Adil Kohari/Mustafa Zaidi 6-3, 6-3; Talha Saeed/Abdul Rehman bt Nameer Shamsi/Muneeb Khan 6-3, 6-7, 6-4.

Boys U-11 singles (final):

Khwaja Hamza bt Talha Zubair 6-4, 6-3.

Thursday’s fixtures (all finals):

Juniors U-17 singles 10.30am; boys U-15 singles 12noon; boys U-15 doubles 3pm; men’s singles 3.30pm.
