WANA, March 29: At least four people were killed and as many wounded in clashes between two militant groups in South Waziristan on Thursday, officials and residents said.
Both sides used heavy weapons in the fighting which left the four, two of them foreigners, dead.
Sources said the clashes erupted early in the morning between supporters of militant commander Maulvi Nazir and his rival Noor Islam, who is backing foreigners in Azam Warsak, Shin Warsak, Jaghundai and Kalosha areas. The fighting began when the Nazir group tried to dislodge foreigners from a government school in Ghawakha area, the sources said.
A ceasefire was brokered after three hours of fighting.
SOLDIERS KILLED: Two soldiers of South Waziristan Scouts were killed and four injured when their colleague Rauf Mangel started indiscriminate firing in a paramilitary camp.
