NAWABSHAH, April 17: Several people fell unconscious when temperature shot up to 45 degrees centigrade in the district on Tuesday.

Many people with complaints of heatstroke reported at different hospitals and clinics of the district, business activities were badly affected and roads gave a deserted look during the day.

PIPE BURST: Water supply to a major portion of the city was suspended after a supply line coming from Rohri canal burst near Haqqani town late on Monday evening.

Residents of Ghulam Rasool Shah Colony, Taj Colony, Society, Camp No. 2, Qazi Ahmed Morr and several other areas faced difficulties due to shortage of water while the residents of Taj Colony staged a demonstration against taluka municipal administration.

When contacted Nawabshah taluka nazim Abdul Rauf Khan said that work on repair of pipeline was going on and water supply to affected areas would be restored soon.

MMA: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) on Tuesday slammed ban on pillion-riding by the district government and said that it would badly affect the routine life of thousands of people.

MMA activists Mohammad Aslam Shaikh and Prof Aijaz Alam said that the negligence of police was not blame for steep rise in crimes and the district administration had proved it by seeking help from Rangers.

They said that the ban would make it difficult for people to move as the same police who was responsible for their safety would disturb them on this pretext.
