HYDERABAD, April 19: The Sindh National Party (SNP) has demanded setting up the trauma centre at Qasimabad instead of at the City taluka as has been approved, and handing over of the Niaz Stadium and Rani Bagh to Qasimabad taluka for being its property.

During a news conference at the press club on Thursday, the SNP leaders Ashraf Noorani and Bachal Shoro condemned the ‘anti-Sindh policies of the MQM government.’ They said Hyderabad had been bifurcated into four districts to hand over control of the city to the MQM.

They alleged that six ‘Sindhi’ villages had been given demolition notices in Qasimabad taluka which were being ignored in the development schemes. They said the district government had laid claims to the Niaz Stadium and the Rani Bagh which in fact were the properties of Qasimabad taluka.

The SNP leaders further said contracts of development works were being given to the favourites of the MQM. They said, under a planned conspiracy, NADRA office was shifted from the State Life building to Latifabad and the trauma centre approved for Qasimabad taluka was now being shifted to Hirabad within the jurisdiction of the City taluka.

They said the nazim, union council-2, Qasimabad, Mehboob Abro, was the only person who consistently was raising voice against the district government for ignoring the development of Qasimabad because of which preparations were afoot to table no-confidence motion against Mehboob Abro.

Mehboob Abro was elected as an independent candidate, they said and expressed confidence in him. They appealed to councillors of the UC-2 to foil the conspiracy against Mehboob Abro.

They demanded the withdrawal of demolition notices issued to the six villages and the issuance of proprietary rights to the villages.

Further on they called for handing over Pakka Qilla and historical heritages of Sindh to the culture department, shifting back of NADRA office to the State Life building and an end to the conspiracies against Mehboob Abro.

They called for the reinstatement of secretary, UC-2, Qasimabad, Arz Mohammad Noonari, and dissolution of the district government and warned of launching `Remove district government, save Hyderabad movement’ in case their demands were not met.

They announced that a rally would be staged on April 24 to pressure the authorities to accept their demands.
