Narowal DHQ hospital in a shambles

Published April 20, 2007

SIALKOT, April 19: Punjab Chief Minister’s Inspection Team (CMIT) member Chaudhry Shaukat Nawaz Goraya has expressed his grave concern over the precarious condition of Narowal DHQ Hospital and non-availability of basic facilities and medicines since long.

During his visit to the hospital, a number of angry indoor and outdoor patients criticised the management. They told Mr Goraya that there had been no operation theatre, gynaecologist and medicines in the hospital for the last several years. Doctors and paramedical staff often remain absent from duties by leaving patients unattended.

The CMIT member ordered a complete departmental probe into the mismanagement by the hospital officials.

Narowal DCO Tahir Yousaf and EDO (Health) Dr Javaid Ashraf were also present on this occasion.

It is worth-mentioning that Federal Health Minister Muhammad Naseer Khan belongs to Narowal, but the people of the district are deprived of health facilities.

PROBE BEGINS: A team of Punjab government’s technical experts on Thursday started a probe into the gas explosion at Pasrur THQ Civil Hospital, which claimed three lives.

The team reviewed in detail the technical aspects of the blast.

Reports said two paramedics and a retired army man were killed and nine patients, including two children, sustained injuries in a gas leak explosion at Pasrur hospital on Tuesday.
