HYDERABAD, April 23: Chairman of District Milk Price Control Committee, Q.Mohammad Hakim, has warned the milk retailers, wholesalers, chillers and big Bara owners not to sell milk above the fixed price, failing which legal action would be taken against them.
He was presiding over a meeting of District Milk Price Control Committee at Shahbaz Hall, Shahbaz Building, here on Monday. All the Taluka Magistrates, Taluka Police Officers and members of the committee attended the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Q.Mohammad Hakim said that an agreement between milk retailers, wholesalers, chillers, big Bara owners and district administration was signed in the recent past in which all the milk sellers agreed to sell the commodity Rs2 per litre less than Karachi milk rate within the district limits.
Subsequently the rate of milk at that time was fixed as Rs28 per liter for retailers and Rs25.75 per liter for wholesalers. He said that the district government had also constituted district milk price control committee to get the agreement implemented and ensure availability of milk at agreed rate.
He said that with the passage of time, now the district price control committee was receiving complaints from different areas of the district, consequently it has been decided to take action against violators.
He said that since variation in milk prices in Karachi has not been evaluated and reported to the district government Hyderabad, all the milk sellers were legally bound to sell milk at Rs28 per liter as retail price and Rs25.75 per liter as wholesalers' price.
