KARACHI, April 25: A PIA commercial flight (PK-207) escaped an accident on Wednesday when one of its engines malfunctioned just minutes before landing at the Dubai airport.

The pilot of the Airbus A-310 managed to land the plane safely.

A PIA spokesman said the aircraft carrying 101 passengers had taken off from Jinnah International Airport at 8am and one of its engines developed a technical problem while it was near the Dubai airport.

An Edhi spokesman said that when the aircraft was about 180km away from Dubai one of its engines had ceased to function and some explosions took place.

FLIGHT DELAY: A Jeddah-bound PIA flight was delayed by over an hour due to a problem in the landing gear.
