HYDERABAD, April 29: The Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has urged the federal government to provide a share in taxes collected from the Hyderabad industrial area to the local Site management for improvement of infrastructure.

A meeting of the standing committee of the chamber for Hyderabad Site affairs discussed the problems confronting the industrialists. Emad Siddiqui presided over the meeting.

It urged the Site management to construct asphalt roads in the industrial area and improve drainage system, saying that the entire infrastructure of the area had been destroyed.

The meeting observed that the recently constructed roads had been destroyed in a short period due to use of substandard material. It noted that the drain passing through the Site area had not been cleansed for a long time and dirty water was overflowing out of it.

It complained that the entire refuse of Latifabad taluka was also being dumped and then burnt in the Site area by the taluka administration which affected quality of yarn being produced at the local textile factories. It demanded an end to the practice.

The chamber meeting demanded removal of encroachments and shifting of cattle pens from the area and supply of safe drinking water to the industrial units.

It asked the managing director of Site to visit the area to take stock of the situation and adopt corrective measures.
