HYDERABAD, April 30: Students of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro, belonging to different student organisations, on Monday boycotted classes and held protest demonstration at the campus and outside the press club against the removal of the Vice Chancellor, Prof Jan Mohammad Memon.

Student leaders Shahab Anwar, Azeem Khowaja, Chandar Parkash and others said there was no rhyme or reason for the removal of the VC.

They said it was due to the hard work of the VC that the HEC ranked the LUMHS as second best medical university among the public sector medical universities and added that Dr Memon had sent many doctors abroad on scholarships for higher education and started many new projects in the university.

They said Dr Memon had also introduced research culture in the university. They alleged that Prof Memon had been removed under a conspiracy on political grounds. They claimed that many a senior professors were working for years but all were superseded by an outsider for the post of the VC.

They warned of staging protest march from Jamshoro to press club and holding demonstrations throughout Sindh if the VC was not reinstated.
