HYDERABAD, May 3: Under the M. H. Panhwar Trust, an agriculture research institute will be set up at the farm of the renowned agriculturist, scientist and historian and a public library with a collection of 3,000 books at his house.
This was announced by his son Sunny Panhwar at a condolence reference held at Pir Hussamuddin Rashidi auditorium of the Institute of Sindhology on Wednesday to pay tribute to Mr Panhwar, Hussain Shah Rashidi and Anwar Pirzado for their services to the cause of Sindh.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor, University of Sindh, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, said that Mr Panhwar was a scholar of high calibre and research papers and books produced by him on different scientific subjects, including history, were evidence to his learning.
There was no parallel to the quality of his research work, the VC said, adding that his two research publications were already printed by the Institute of Sindhology while the third on Soomro period was under publication.
Speaking about Hussain Shah Rashidi, the VC said that though he was the son of Pir Ali Mohammad Shah Rashidi but his intellectual father was Pir Hussamuddin Shah Rashidi.
Ali Raze Shah, son of Hussain Shah Rashidi, had agreed to hand over the academic treasure of his father to the Institute of Sindhology which will go a long way in providing maximum benefit to research scholars and intellectuals, he said.
Anwar Pirzado, Mr Siddiqui said, was a great lover of Sindh as all his efforts were directed in the service of the poor people of Sindh.
Dr Habibullah Siddiqui announced establishment of an architecture school in the memory of Mr Panhwar in Dadu.
Dr Mohammad Qasim Bughio said with the death of Mr Panhwar, Sindh had lost a great scholar and added: The faculty of arts will move a proposal for awarding honorary post doctorate degree of literature to late Panhwar.
Dr Ghulam Mohammad Lakho said Hussain Shah Rashidi had rendered tremendous services to Sindh by preserving scholarly works of Pir Hussamuddin Shah Rashidi and Mr Panhwar being an eminent social scientist contributed a lot on the subject of history, archaeology and agriculture.
Zulfiqar Halepoto said as a senator from Sindh, Hussain Shah Rashidi played a great role in highlighting the problems of Sindh.
Shoukat Hussain Shoro announced that corners will be established in the memory of Mr Panhwar, Hussain Shah Rashidi and Anwar Pirzado at the Institute of Sindhology.
