Asian volleyball from June 19

KARACHI, May 5: Seven nations are to vie for honours in the June 19-23 second Asian Central Zone Volleyball Championship to be held at the Liaquat Gymnasium in Islamabad.

The nations are India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and hosts Pakistan.

According to Pakistan Volleyball Federation, national team for the event will be named on June 15. The probables are currently undergoing training in the camp under the supervision of Bulgarian coach Stefan Dimitrov.

The second phase of camp resumed after a break for the 30th National Games.

This will be followed by an eight-match home and away series between arch rivals Pakistan and India and participation in Asian Seniors championship at Jakarta, Indonesia from Sept 1-9.
