QUETTA, May 8: Balochistan Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani has announced that Khuzdar would soon get a medical college and plans were underway to give Bolan Medical College the status of a university.

Speaking at the first convocation of the Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology on Tuesday, he said that Khuzdar would be turned into a modern city with best health, education and other civic amenities.

He asked students to stay focused on their education and claimed that the present government was providing maximum education facilities in the province. He said that five new universities were established in Balochistan during the last four-five years, while seven new cadet colleges were also being set up there.

He said the federal government was spending Rs213 billion on development projects in the province.

“It is the responsibility of all political parties and their leadership to support the development process,” Mr. Ghani said and urged the parties to not to waste any opportunity of development in their respective areas.

The governor said that work on the Dadu-Khuzdar transmission line would be launched in July this year, adding that it would be completed within two years while Khuzdar would also get gas supply very soon.

He asked people to ensure a peaceful atmosphere in the area so that development could continue without any hurdles. He specifically urged landowners to pay their electricity bills to ensure progress in power supply projects.
