SRINAGAR, May 9: Three Indian soldiers and six suspected militants were killed in a series of clashes in northern Kashmir near the Line of Control, police said on Wednesday. Two freedom fighters who ignored an order to surrender and a soldier were killed in a six-hour firefight when troops and police raided a hideout in Kupwara district late Tuesday, police officer Haseeb Mughal told AFP.
Two soldiers were killed and 10 others wounded in two more clashes with militants along the Line of Control.
Troops also shot dead four more suspected militants in the same area.
Separately, suspected militants shot dead a former Kashmiri fighter in the town of Sopore, a police spokesman said.
