DADU, May 13: A man and a woman were killed over charges of having illicit relations in the Mian Jo Goth village of Mehar taluka on Saturday night.

Reports reaching here said that one Ali Hassan shot dead his cousin Azeem and surrendered to Thariri Mohabbat police with a pistol. Soon afterwards, his brother Gul Hassan surrendered to police after killing his wife Haseena on suspicions of having illicit relations with Azeem.

Kidnapped: Armed men kidnapped a woman from her house on the Market Road on Sunday after depriving the family of gold jewellery, cash and valuables worth Rs300,000.

Reports reaching here said that the armed men barged into the house of trader Kashanchand, held the inmates hostage at gunpoint, looted cash and gold ornaments and kidnapped the trader's wife Rani, before escaping.

Mr Kashanchand told journalists that the robbers had also tortured his family members and accused one Imran and his friends of being involved in his wife’s kidnapping.

A large number of people belonging to the Hindu community, led by the district president of the minority wing of the People’s Party Parliamentarians Dileep Kumar, held a demonstration against the woman’s kidnapping and alleged that local police were not making serious efforts for her recovery.

RESIGNED: A senior activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Niaz Hussain advocate and 20 other party activists resigned from the basic membership of the party on Sunday in protest against killing of innocent people in Karachi.

ESCAPED: One Abdul Majeed Memon arrested on charge of theft a week before managed to escape from the custody of Manjhand police on Saturday night.

Police have registered an FIR against the constable on duty, Muneer Ahmed, and put him under arrest on charges of negligence.
