Layyah TMA’s apathy

Published May 19, 2007

LAYYAH, May 17: The Tehsil Municipal Administration, Layyah, has only two electricians for the maintenance and operation of over 7,000 streetlights and eight disposal pumps. Reports said that one of the electricians Ibrar Ahmad, son of Jhakhar UC naib nazim Basheer Ahmad Roogha, was getting monthly salary without performing his duty.

All the workload was on the shoulder of other electrician, Bilal, who had to perform the duty of switching on/off 36 points of streetlights. He carried out his official duty on a bicycle. Owing to the shortage of staff, people have to wait for days to get replaced the fused tubelights.
