HYDERABAD, June 3: Prominent intellectual and JSQM leader Abdul Wahid Arisar has said that a national movement always brings about revolutionary changes in literature, culture and drama.
Speaking as chief guest at a ceremony marking the first death anniversary of noted writer and playwright, late Nisar Hussaini, at the Sindh Education Trust Building on Saturday night, he said the poetry of Shaikh Ayaz and the plays and tableaus of Nisar Hussaini had played a pivotal role in Sindh’s national movement.
He said the services of Nisar Hussaini in the promotion of Sindhi literature and national movement would be remembered forever.
The Central Secretary General of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat, (SAB) Dr.Zulfiqar Siyal, said that apart from his literary services, late Nisar Hussaini, was a man of principle and he never believed in sycophancy.
He said the Sangat would continue its tradition of giving awards to the authors of best books and added that one such award would be given in the name of late Nisar Hussaini.
He said the Sangat would also translate the dream of Hussaini of having an office for the Sangat into reality.
Noted leftist leader Jam Saqi said that Hussaini possessed great qualities of head and heart and was a revolutionary writer.
He said Hussaini had created awakening among the people against one unit.
Former Secretary General of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat, Taj Joyo paying tribute to the departed soul, said that late Hussaini had a multi-dimensional personality and was an institution.
He said Hussaini was not only a writer but also an actor, director and publisher.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Waseem Mirza, Hameed Sindhi, Manzoor Qadir Junejo, the widow of Hussaini, Ms Zeb and others.
The event was jointly organised by the Sindh Education Trust, Kaleech Sangat and Aagam Publishing Agency.
