KASUR, June 3: Five people, including a minor and his two sisters, drowned in two incidents in Kasur on Sunday.

A minor boy and his two sisters drowned while taking a bath at a fish farm at Norriwala village in Ganda Singh police precincts.

Reports said Ali Haider, 6, Aasia, 10, and Farah, 8, drowned in the pond of a fish farm owned by Liaquat Ali.

In the other incident, two students downed while fishing near Baloki Headworks over Ravi.

Reports reaching here said Ali 12, and his friends were fishing when stormy waves of the river swept Ali away. His friend Anus, also 12, tried to save him but he also drowned.

ACCIDENT: A man was killed while another sustained injuries in an accident here on Sunday on Raiwind Road.

Reports said Muhammad Rafique along with Waris Ali was on his way to Raja Jang from Pakihavali village on a motorcycle (LRA-8848). Near Nalka Stop, a speeding bus (LHT-1378) hit their bike, killing Rafique on the spot. Waris Ali was rushed to the DHQ hospital in a critical condition.

Raiwind police are looking into the matter.

ROBBERY: Four armed dacoits deprived a motorcyclist of cash, bike and a cell phone here on Sunday in Phoolnagar police limits.

Reports said Muhammad Khalid was on his way from Lahore to Okara on his motorcycle (LZO-1446). Near Sajad Textile Mills, the robbers riding a car stopped him and made off with his bike, Rs25,000 in cash and a cell phone.

STRIKE: Powerloom workers continued their strike for the second day and took out a rally here on Sunday at Nizampura.

Reports said about 200 workers of spinning units held the rally, demanding a raise in daily wages.

The rally started from Shafi Walla Chowk and ended on Circular Road. Labour leaders Munawwar Jatt and Muhammad Azam demanded increase in daily wages without any delay.
