HYDERABAD, June 4: Senior vice-president of the Awami National Party, Sindh chapter, Haji Asmatullah Khan Mehsud has criticised the government for punishing the electronic media for giving live coverage to May 12 killings in Karachi.

President Pervez Musharraf, he said, wants to prolong his rule through force.

Speaking to party workers of Hala Naka ward, on Monday, he said the Army should be sent back to barracks. Suicide attacks and bomb blasts had scared foreign investors from investing in Pakistan.

The existence of Pakistan was in danger as crises were increasing each day. He said holding of all parties’ conference in London at this moment was a welcome step.

Mehsud said politicians can pull the country out from crisis and lauded the role of ANP chief, Asfandyar Wali for defusing the tension in Karachi.

PPP-SB: PPP-SB has announced of staging demonstrations and hunger strikes throughout Sindh on Tuesday for registration of a false case by the MQM against the former provincial president, Moula Bux Mashori and his relatives.

In a joint statement, the provincial president of the party, Meenhan Khan Rind and information secretary, Peeral Majidano condemned the alleged murder of party activist, Dodo Ansari in Karachi in a fake police encounter. They demanded judicial inquiry into the incident.

It may be recalled here that Hatri police had registered a case against 50 people, including Moula Bux Mashori some few days back when an MQM MNA was attacked while performing the installation ceremony of a new electric transformer.

STP: The Sindh Taraqi Passand Party condemned encroachment of the historic Madressa high school ground, Naushahro Feroze by land mafia and warned that if these were not removed, the party will stage protest demonstrations throughout Sindh and get the ground vacated with peoples' power.

In a joint statement issued here on Saturday, the chairman STP, Dr Qadir Magsi and senior vice chairman, Dr Abdul Hameed Memon said that it was the insensitivity of the Sindh government and education department that land mafia was not sparing even educational institutions.

He said these people were enemies of education, younger generation and of entire society. He said those elements who try to encroach upon school buildings were criminals and should be awarded exemplary punishment.

The STP leaders said that it was a misfortune of Sindhi people that the entire educational structure had been destroyed due to wrong government policies.
