HYDERABAD, June 8: Tribute was paid to prominent poet late Ustad Bukhari for his services in the cause of Sindh and Sindhi literature at a memorial meeting held at Mumtaz Mirza auditorium of Sindh Museum here on Thursday night.
The event was organized by the department of culture and tourism. The speakers said that Ustad Bukhari was a poet of the people and he would remain alive through his poetry.
The secretary, culture and tourism, Sindh, Abdul Qadir Mangi, said that Ustad Bukhari was the voice of people as his topics were Sindh and the problems of Sindhis. He added that he had employed chaste language in his poetry.
Short story writer Hameed Sindhi said that Ustad Bukhari was one of the greatest poets of Sindh and he had highlighted problems of the people in his poetry.
Hakim Ali Shah Bukhari, the brother of Ustad Bukhari, said that he was not only a great poet but also a musician as he had composed 50 tunes.
Abdul Ghaffar Tabassum, Naseer Mirza and Qamar Rajpar also spoke on the occasion.
