DADU, June 10: Three persons died of sunstroke in Dadu and Larkana districts on Sunday as mercury rose to 51 degree Celsius.

Mumtaz Ali Rodhnani, 12, died in Golo Faqir village, Johi talukas. Ms Gul Khatoon, 60, resident of Markhpur Mohalla of Dadu city, died in the Civil Hospital where she was brought in serious condition.

Over 34 people fell unconscious in Dadu and were admitted to different hospitals of the city. Twelve people fainted in Johi, eight in Mehar, five in Khairpur Nathan Shah and three in Sehwan.

In Dadu city, Shahi Bazaar, Sarafa Bazaar, Rai Bazar and Station Road wore deserted look due to scorching heat.

LARKANA: A labourer, Shamsuddin Memon, died in Lahori Mohalla due to sunstroke as the mercury shot up to 50 degrees Centigrade here on Sunday.

Both Larkana and Qambar-Shahdadkot district are in the grip of severe heat.

Temperature in Shahdadkot broke all records and touched 51 degrees Centigrade level, reports reaching here said.

NAWABSHAH: Dozens of people, including women and children, fainted due to scorching heat in Nawabshah town and surrounding areas as temperature shot up to 50 degrees Centigrade on Sunday.

The citizens of Nawabshah experienced the hottest day of summer with many sun stroke cases reported in different hospitals of the district.

Patients at Nawabshah Medical College Hospital and other health centres of the district were the worst sufferers amid power outage.

All bazaars and commercial areas wore a deserted look as people preferred to stay indoor due to scorching heat.

Doctors have advised the people to avoid consumption of unhygienic and stale food and to drink more water besides covering their heads with wet towels while going out during daytime.

Meanwhile, more than 30 new cases of gastroenteritis were reported in different hospitals and health centres of the district.

Some 10 new cases were reported in NMC Hospital while others approached different health centres.
