LARKANA, June 11: Leader of the opposition in Sindh Assembly, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, has said that under a well- considered conspiracy, the number of votes was reduced by six million in interior of Sindh while more voters were registered in Hyderabad and Karachi in fresh lists so that the number of seats could be increased their.
At a meeting of the working committee of PPP Larkana and Qambar-Shahdadkot districts here on Sunday, he said that old voters lists, according to rules, were to be updated with fresh entries but under a set plan, old list were cancelled by the government.
A faulty procedure was deliberately adopted and Sindh government executed the plan while the teachers went on a strike against the ban imposed on their unions.
He said that the mind behind entering more votes in fresh lists in Karachi and Hyderabad only was to make a ground to enhance assembly seats there.
He questioned when population in Sindh had registered an increased, why names of six million voters were deleted in fresh lists.
He directed the party workers to keep an eye over the voters' lists being put on display from June 13 and point out blunders to the party high up on immediate basis.
The meeting also took stock of the prevailing situation and announced to celebrate the birthday of Ms Benazir Bhutto during the month of June and also convey her message to the people.
Presidents of PPP Larkana and Qambar-Shahdadkot districts also addressed the meeting.
LECTURERS: A group of ad hoc lecturers demonstrated outside the local press club to press for the regularisation of their services.
According to Zulfikar Panhwar, Manzoor Kalhoro and others, who led the demonstration, the Sindh government had not only delayed regularisation of their services, but also denied salary to them for five months which had multiplied their problems.
Carrying placards and banners, they said that a summary recommending regularisation of their services was lying in the chief minister's secretariat.
