LARKANA, June 12: Sindh will post two Deputy Inspector General of Police, one in Sukkur and the other in Hyderabad to reinforce the Investigation Wing. Acting Provincial Police Officer Sindh Niaz Ahmed Siddiki told this to journalists on Tuesday.

Niaz Siddiki and Sindh Home Secretary Ghulam Muhammed Mohtarram defended the bifurcation of police into two wings - operation and investigation.

Bifurcation was a constitutional requirement as it provided the much-needed boost in streamlining the performance of the Investigation Wing, he said and added: “We are providing them with police stations, vehicles and equipment to improve their function as professionally it was correct to have a separate unit for investigation.

Tribal disputes give rise to crimes which have been identified by the police in Sukkur, he said and vowed to take action against it soon.

He said he was there to study and assess law order situation, financial needs of police and take suggestions from the elected representatives for helping the newly created districts.

Some new districts do not have police headquarters as yet but were in need of vehicles and police force to handle the situation, he said.

The PPO and home secretary denied of knowing about the list which had held responsible 70 tribal chiefs for clashes in Sindh, including the PML ministers and legislators of sitting and opposition parties.

Sindh Minister Altaf Unnar, however said that he reserved the right to go for legal action against Sardar Ghulam Serwar Sarki, adviser for preparing and submitting list to the CM and home department as reported by media.

The PPO and home secretary held meetings with the district nazim Larkana Muhammed Bakhsh Arijo, Sindh Minister Atlaf Hussain Unnar, delegation of taluka nazims and delegation of the PPPP MPAS.

The PPPP MPAS Haji Munwar Ali Abbasi, Ayaz Soomro, Ghulam Mujdaid Isran, Najamuddain Abro expressed concern over law and order situation in Larkana and Qambar-Shahdadkot districts and called for posting the CSS police officers.
