HYDERABAD, June 24: A man was killed and several others sustained injuries in rain-related incidents in Nawabshah and other districts of the province as moderate rains and windstorm continued intermittently on Sunday.

Also, reports of erratic power supply and power breakdown were received from many parts of the province.

In Hyderabad, it started raining moderately at around 2.30 pm, which continued for around 30 minutes, causing accumulation of water on some roads and in areas where sewerage work was in progress. However, no casualty was reported form any part of the city.

Meteorological office recorded 4.2 millimetre of rain on Saturday while the airport office of met department recorded 3.59 millimetres. The rain brought temperature down to 28.6 Celsius from the maximum of 42.5 degree centigrade. Power supply remained erratic in different areas of the city.

NAWABSHAH: A man was killed and three others injured in the city due to wind storm on Saturday and Sunday. Ms Mehnaz and his two sons Akmal, 13, and Ajmal, 8, were seriously injured when wall of the neighbouring house fell on them in Gharibabad on Saturday evening.

They were taken to Nawabshah Medical College Hospital. Ajmal was being shifted to Hyderabad when he died on his way to hospital.

Mohammed Siddiq Jatoi, 60, suffered serious injuries when a thatched roof fell on him on Sanghar road. Wind storm continued in different parts of the district. Meteorological office forecast rains accompanied by wind storm in the region in next 24 hours.

The city and other parts of district received rain followed by windstorm on Sunday afternoon. Electricity and telephone systems remained disturbed as many poles and trees were uprooted. Met office recorded 15.4 mm on Sunday.

MIRPURKHAS: Rain continued intermittently in the district on Sunday. A number of signboards and trees were uprooted in Mirpurkhas and Umerkot, districts during last two days windstorm and rain.

Six persons including two children were injured in rain related incidents on Sunday. Two persons were injured when roof of a house collapsed in Ayoub Nagar, injuring Ashfaque and his son Zafar 11. A girl Miskan, 6, slipped and sustained injuries in Pak Colony. She was rushed to Civil Hospital and later referred to Liaquat University Hospital Hyderabad due to her precarious condition.

A Suzuki jeep collided with a coaster near Mirwah Gorchani road, causing injuries to Mrs. Naseem, 40, Mrs Sanam, alias Noshi, 26 and Noor Mohammad, the driver. They were rushed to Civil Hospital.

KHAIRPUR: Rainstorm hit Ranipur Hingorja, Gambat, Khuhra, Sobhodero and their adjoining areas on Sunday. Intermittent rain continued for about two hours.

People did not come out of their houses due to fear of storm and rain. Traffic on the National Highway remained suspended. Five persons were injured in rain related incidents on the highway.

DADU: Parts of Dadu and Jamshoro districts including Dadu, Johi, Khudabad, Mehar, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Phulji, Sehwan, Sann, Manjhand were hit by wind storm and rain on the second consecutive day on Sunday. Power supply remained suspended for hours.
