MARDAN: Water shortage

Published June 25, 2007

MARDAN, June 24: People from the Hoti locality here protested against the shortage of drinking water in their area for the past 10 days.

Condemning officials of the tehsil municipal administration, they said that theirs was not the only locality without water. People in other areas in the city like Sherdil Khan, Noormankhel, Bajuri and Mandoori, were used to queuing up outside mosques for water. They said that they had become dependent on TMA tube wells because water in wells drilled in their homes was too brackish.—Correspondent
