KHAIRPUR, June 27: Water level in the Indus River at Sukkur and Guddu barrages was rising after pre-monsoon rains. The upstream flow of water at Guddu barrage was recorded 196,806 cusec whereas downstream was 174,282 cusec.

According to irrigation officials, there was an increase of about 45,000-50,000 cusec at Guddu and Sukkur barrages after rains and the level is likely to increase further.

On the other hand, due to rains all the canals of district Khairpur east and west division irrigation system have been closed from Sukkur barrage.

Both the systems provide irrigation water to seven talukas of the district.

Water level in Rohri canal has decreased from 12-13 foot to about 8 foot from Sukkur barrage. The Rohri canal irrigates three districts — Naushahro Feroze, Nawabshah and Sanghar.
