PESHAWAR, March 6: A division bench of the Peshawar High Court on Tuesday directed the officials of police station, Swabi district, to strictly follow the law, otherwise, action would be taken against them.

The bench, comprising Justice Malik Hamid Saeed and Justice Ijazul Hassan, took exception to non-registration of an FIR over the complaint of a citizen and directed the police to forthwith register the case as it was right of an individual.

Justice Saeed asked the SHO of Swabi police station, Mohammad Shah, when they would going to mend their ways. The judge observed that police had set up their own courts in the police stations and making decisions in accordance with their whims and violating existing laws.

The bench was hearing a petition filed by Sher Ali Khan who claimed that he had an industrial unit in partnership with Sultan in Swabi. He stated that later the unit got bankrupt and his partner Sultan attacked his premises along with two dozen persons and forcefully occupied it. As he went to the police station, the police refused to register a case against his opponent.
