HARIPUR, March 6: The district development committee (DDC) has approved 39 new development schemes under Khushhal Pakistan Programme (phase-III) and social action programme (SAP). The total cost of these schemes, to be executed in 22 union councils (UCs) of the district, has been estimated at Rs45.694 million.
This was disclosed in a meeting of the DDC which was held here on Wednesday at the finance and planning department with Zila Nazim Raja Amer Zaman in the chair. District coordination officer Capt (retired) Jehanzeb Khan, Tehsil Nazim Ghazi, Syed Qasim Shah, secretary KPP, and district officer Planning and Development (P&D) Nisar Ahmad, EDO works Ziauddin and other concerned officers also attended the meeting.
The meeting was told that out of the total cost of Rs45.694 million, which was approved by the DDC, Rs37.38 million will be spent on 34 schemes in water supply, sanitation and the communication sectors in 22 UCs under KPP-III, while five sch-emes were approved in education sector under SAP for providing furniture and constructing additional rooms in certain schools of the district. The SAP schemes would cost Rs8.314 million.
The district Nazim asked the P&D department to work out the project proposals submitted by the remaining 22 UCs at the earliest and put them up before the DDC for consideration and approval in its next meeting to be held in the near future. He directed the department to complete the PC-1 of all the proposed schemes by the mid-April so that all the approved schemes could be completed by June 30.
