LARKANA, July 3: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has directed different departments to work jointly and provide relief to flood affected people.

He gave the orders while presiding a high-level meeting to review the rescue and rehabilitation work for flood affectees in Qamber-Shahdadkot Qamber district at Zila Nazim’s Office, on Tuesday.

Later, talking with journalists he said committees had been formed consisting Police, Army and Revenue Department personnel to rescue and provide relief to affected people. He informed of setting up an emergency cell at the Zila Nazim/DCO Office Qamber-Shahdadkot Qamber.

The CM said cooked food, drinking water and medicines especially for gastroenteritis, life saving drugs, anti-snake injections, and for child immunisation will be provided by mobile health teams.

He said local administration of other districts including Larkana, Shikarpur, Jacobabad and Sukkur should also come forward. He appealed tolerance and sympathies for flood-hit population.

He further said that sufficient funds were available with the government and only joint efforts were needed to help the people.

Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim said cooked food and relief goods were being provided through Army helicopters and district government. He visited from Zero Point to Gabi Dero and assured to take steps for their rescue and rehabilitation.

He will personally monitor rescue and relief operation from the CM House Karachi daily.

The meeting was attended by Sindh Irrigation Minister Sardar Nadir Akmal Khan Leghari, Advisor to CM Sindh Sultan Ahmed Khuhawar, Chief Secretary Sindh Shakeel Ahmed Durani, IG Police Sindh Zia-ul-Hassan Khan, RPO Sukkur Mohammad Bachal Sanghri, DIG Police Larkana Akhtar Hassan Gorchani, Zila Nazim Qamber-Shahdadkot district Nawab Shabir Ahmed Chandio, DCO Qamber-Shahdadkot Mukhtiar Hussain Soomro, DCO Larkana Mohammad Naseer Jamali and others.—PPI
