DEAR GHAZI KHAN, July 3: On the last leg of its `Istehkam-i-Pakistan Road Caravan’, MMA leaders and workers reached Dera Ghazi Khan from Multan on Tuesday afternoon.

Local leaders and workers of the six-party alliance warmly welcomed the central leadership.

Speaking to a public meeting at Traffic Chowk, MMA leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman condemned the Jamia Hafsa operation. He said the Hafsa students had never used guns in their previous acts to `curb obsenity.’

Soon after his speech, the Maulana left for Islamabad probably to settle the Jamia Hafsa issue.

MMA President Qazi Husain Ahmed, during his speech, said Gen Musharraf was following Kamal Atta Turk who had killed Muslim scholars and imposed a ban on Haj by the Turks after assuming power.

Others who addressed the rally were Prof Sajid Mir, Qari Zawar Bahadur, Liaquat Baloch, Maulana Jalil Naqwi and Allama Pir Abdul Raheem Naqshbandi.

MUZAFFARGARH: The MMA’s caravan reached Muzaffargarh on Tuesday and its workers welcomed the leadership on the Chenab Bridge.

Addressing in Seraiki, MNA Liaquat Baloch said the people of Muzaffargarh would soon hear good news of ouster of Gen Musharraf. He demanded establishment of a university in the district, saying that thousands of acres of Sardar Kauray Khan could be utilised for the purpose.

Qazi Husain Ahmed said the US was responsible for the sufferings of the Muslims in Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan and tribal areas of Pakistan and “our government is a puppet of America.”
