Okara Bar president joins PPP

OKARA, July 7: District Bar Association (DBA) President Maqbool Husain Shakir has announced joining the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and vowed to contest the election for a Provincial Assembly constituency from the city.

He said this at a press conference after a dinner hosted by former member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Muhammad Arif Chaudhry who has also joined the PPP and is hopeful about getting a PPP ticket for a National Assembly constituency. Others who can pose challenge to Mr Chaudhry’s plan to win the ticket are: former provincial minister Rana Ikram Rabbani and District PPP President Ashraf Khan Sohna.

At the dinner arranged in the honour of reporters, Mr Chaudhry said the PPP could resolve the problems of the masses. He said he would begin his election campaign after a meeting with PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto on July 23 in London. The dinner gathering was also addressed by Mian Sarwar Khokhar, Sheikh Najamus Saqib, Chaudhry Sajjad, Nasir Waheed, Dr Iftikhar Amjad and Ismail Chaudhry.
