SWABI, July 14: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company has failed to restore power supply to many localities which had been disrupted when a thunderstorm hit the area on Friday.

A consumer in Palodand area, Salim Khan, said that despite the passage of more than 40 hours people were still without electricity.

“We were told by Pesco staff that the restoration work will take another day,” said Farooq Chinar by phone. “A number of families has been shifted to other localities and specially the children have been sent to relatives’ homes because it was difficult for them to stay without electricity,” he said.

People also complained about an ‘extremely rude’ behaviour of the Pesco staff.

In Naro Banda area two electricity poles were uprooted owing to the thunderstorm.

The consumers said that they had no idea when the repair work would start.

A social worker, Rajwali Khan, said that he had met the officials concerned but no one gave him a satisfactory reply about the repair work.

The People at Yar Hussian, Tordher, Tehsil Chota Lahor, Shewa, Tarraki, Kernel Sher Kili, Marghuz and other areas said that they were still without electricity.
