DADU, July 15: A fresh spell of rain and floodwater coming from Balochistan inundated 20 more villages and hundreds of acres of land between the main Nara valley (MNV) drain and the flood protective (FP) bund in Khairpur Nathan Shah and Johi talukas.

The floodwater is increasing pressure on the western embankment of Johi branch.Hundreds of armed men reached the Johi branch embankment at Kari Mori and did not allow officials of the irrigation department and Wapda to make a cut in the branch to drain out water towards the Matheen Phulji area.

Local chieftain Sardar Datal Khan Jamali, Sindh Nation Front leader Abdul Nabi Jamali and PML leaders Mir Mohammad and Ali Sher Chandio led the armed men.

They said that any cut in the Johi branch would inundate hundreds of acres of land and houses.
