NAWABSHAH, July 17: Nursing students of the Nawabshah Medical College Hospital (NMCH) have sought legal action against a doctor and paramedical staff for criminal assault.

Talking to newsmen in Medical Unit-II on Tuesday, few female students informed of being abused by a doctor and paramedical staff.

Two students of 2nd and 3rd Year and sisters accused Dr Moazzam Bhatti, a postgraduate student, Zakir Hussain Soomro, an ECG technician and a paramedic, Gul, of criminally assaulting them. One sister claimed of getting pregnant and was asked to keep quiet upon reporting the matter to nursing principal.

Another female student of final year accompanied by her sister also a student accused same persons of attempting to assault but she escaped from their clutches.

She said doctor and paramedics harassed and blackmailed nursing students in wards and during night duties but administration never took any action.

The students demanded of the authorities to take legal action against culprits failing which they would hold a demonstration outside the MS office.

The MS Prof Dr Gulshan Ali Memon said that the administration received complaints of misbehaviour from nursing students.

He said he had suspended Zakir Hussain Soomro and banned entry of Dr Moazzam Bhatti, who was not a hospital employee.

Dr Moazzam Bhatti denied allegations while Zakir Hussain Soomro was not available for comments.
