NAWABSHAH, July 17: The Medical Superintendent, Nawabshah Medical College Hospital (NMCH), Prof Dr Gulshan Ali Memon has said the NMCH is facing shortage of doctors, paramedics, nurses and space as there are only 140 doctors available against the strength of 300 approved in 1984.

He said advertisement for vacant posts of nurses was announced soon after he took over the charge. The hospital had established departments like neurosurgery, paediatrics surgery, the ICU and urology without schedule of new expenditure, said Prof Gulshan.

He informed of separating gynaecology, eye and urology OPDs by utilising the guestroom area. The administration, he said, had decided to establish a help centre for providing information and ambulance to poor patients.Completion of Burns and Tetanus wards was in last stages he said and stressed the need for setting up conference hall and a trauma centre along with a telemedicine ward for better treatment of patients.
He said the government couldn't fill vacant post in one go and called for provision of at least 15 doctors from each district for training purpose for three months on rotation basis.
The MS demanded of the Sindh government to provide 200 acres land outside Nawabshah town for construction of wards as hospital needed expansion.
