THATTA, July 18: Member of Provincial Assembly Humera Alwani warned on Wednesday that she would move the court over deletion of her name from the fresh electoral lists if the authorities concerned did not tender an unconditional apology and rectify the blunder.

Ms Alwani, who was picked by People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP) on the reserved seats for women, charged that assistant election commission of Thatta, in connivance with her opponents, had deliberately left her name out of the new list.

She said that the assistant election commissioner had deleted the name of a sitting MPA, a CNIC and domicile holder as well as a legitimate resident of the area but had been extra alert to include fictitious names and names of non-locals including Begalis, Beharis, Burmese and Afghans in the lists of coastal constituencies.

She said that her family had been residing since in Mirza Khuwaja village, which was named after her ancestors, for ages and she had twice used her right of franchise in the general elections of 2002 and local bodies elections of 2005 at the polling station in her village.

She said that the fact that she aspired to get party ticket for PS-88 Mirpur Sakro and was confident Ms Benazir Bhutto would once again pose her confidence in her, had perturbed her opponents and they had conspired to keep her out of elections.
