DADU, July 20: Former provincial law minister and PPP leader, Pir Mazharul Haq, has condemned exclusion of 34,000 voters in PS-74 Dadu-IV. These voters were registered in the 2002 and entitled to cast their votes in the last general elections, he added.

Talking to journalists here on Friday, he regretted that 200 million out of 700 million eligible voters enrolled for 2002 general elections were deleted from the new electoral lists merely because they did not possess the computerized national identity cards.

He alleged that present regime had amended the electoral rolls act 1974 by inserting clause “b(a)” to sub-section (2) of section-6 whereby new condition were imposed on a person who is otherwise entitled to be enrolled as voter in an electoral area i.e. “possesses the national identity card issued or deemed to have been issued to him under the National Database and Registration Authority Ordinance 2000”.

FLOOD-HIT AREAS: Flood water of Balochistan is flowing in Manchhar lake from western side of flood protective bund and Main Nara Valley drain and the level of Manchhar remained at 112.8 RL on Friday as the irrigation officials were draining out 7,000 cusec of water of the lake into the Indus to maintain the level.

The EDO Revenue, Sajjad Ahmed Abbasi, said that supply of relief goods to the flood- affected people of Mehar, Khairpur Nathan Shah and Johi in Dadu district was going on.

He said that relief camps in the flood-hit areas of Union Councils of Kamal Khan and Chhinni of Johi taluka, which were affected due to breach in to MNV drain, would continue till the water level of the drain reduces and breaches are plugged.

Flood water continues its pressure along FP bund and MNV drain in lower areas of Johi towards Manchhar lake.

Secretary Irrigation, Shuja Ahmed Junejo, claimed that water from MNV drain was reducing from northern side and after a few days pressure on flood protective embankment would be reduced.
