HYDERABAD, July 29: People’s Party Parliamentarians MNA Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur has said that due to the flood water from Balochistan and release of water from Manchhar Lake, many villages of taluka Sehwan including Goth Moula Bux Mallah, Ibrahim Sonaro, Doodhani and Qadir Bux Mallah are still inundated by the flood water.

He said that more than 500 houses have been inundated and 3500 villagers have migrated to other places.

In a statement faxed to Dawn here on Sunday, he said he visited Bubak, Laki Shah Sadar and Goth Ali Khan Rind on Saturday and personally saw the critical situation there.

Mr Talpur said 5,000 fishermen, who lived on the surface of Manchhar Lake and were part of the unique Indus civilisation, had now been shifted to the embankments of the lake.

The MNA demanded of the government to provide immediate relief to the victims of the flood in Sehwan taluka and despatch medical teams.

He said that the poisonous water of Manchhar Lake was being released through Chhandan wah, Aral wah and Danistar wah which was mixing up with the Sehwan water supply system as a result of which people were suffering from various water borne diseases.

He said during his visit to the shrine of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, the devotees expressed their reservations over the construction work of Dhamal court and the renovation of the main gate of shrine.

He said, he had advised MD National Construction Company to complete the remaining work before the Urs.
