HYDERABAD, July 31: Latifabad Taluka Nazim Sabir Hussain Qaimkhani with DCO Aftab Ahmed Khatri and superintending engineer, Pinyari circle, irrigation department, Mohammad Mithal Abbasi on Monday inspected the rain nullah in Chhandan Mori where rainwater from Khatthar to Bihar colony has accumulated, creating problems for residents and growers.

During the inspection, it was decided that a 1.2km rain drain would be constructed from Chhandan Mori to old Phulelli Canal to drain out rainwater. The irrigation department would design the nullah within a week and the district and taluka administrations would bear expenses of fixing gates at the canal and the nullah.

The nazim also spoke at a gathering in Aachar Shoro village and said that construction of the rain nullah was one of the long standing demands of the area people. He assured the participants that it would be constructed on war footing.

He said that discussions with the authorities on the issue of royalty on minerals for the taluka were underway and, when received, the royalty money would be used on development works.

Book distribution

Hyderabad DCO Aftab Ahmed Khatri has directed the officers concerned to devise such a strategy for distributing free books among school students that not a single student in the district is left without books. He was speaking at a meeting of the district education committee at Shahbaz Building here on Monday.
