HYDERABAD, July 31: Scores of people from the Khaskheli community of Khesana Mori, near Tando Jam held protest demonstration against the Tando Jam police, on Tuesday. Participants included women and children.

Dhani Bux Khaskheli told the journalists that Nawab Rehan Leghari and Liaquat Leghari had allegedly killed their girl Siani Khaskheli against which they were protesting for last many months but the Tando Jam police instead of arresting the killers was implicating them in false cases on the behest of influential killers.

He said that early on Tuesday the Tando Jam police raided their homes and arrested two men Soomar Khaskheli and Chachar Khaskheli and took them to undisclosed place.

He said police was playing the role of Kamdar of Nawabs. He said few days back Tando Jam police also arrested their man Shaukat who was still missing.

They demanded immediate release of arrested Khaskhelis and action against the killers of Siani Khaskheli.

Lecturers observe hunger strike

The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association continued token hunger strike on Tuesday for the acceptance of their demands which include payment of salaries of last more than five months to adhoc lecturers and regularisation of their services.

Prof Dr Mohammad Ali Manjhee, Aijaz Asad Palijo, Abdullah Brohi and Abdul Bari Memon observed token hunger strike.

The Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz leaders Dr Niaz Kalani and

Hanif Sagar Burdi, Comrade Shah Nawaz of the Pakistan Trade Union Defence Committee, Comrade Hussain Bux Thebo Advocate and others also joined the strike.

The SPLA leaders Agha Khalid Pathan, Yakoob Chandio and Ayaz Halepoto told media people they were protesting the atrocities of Sindh government against college teachers since last half month but the government was not listening to them.

They said more than 8,000 college teachers were ready to continue the struggle.—PPI
