NAWABSHAH, Aug 4: A large number of people from Azeem Colony and Doulat Colony staged a rally, which ended in a sit-in and demonstration, at the Sakrand Road in protest against unannounced load-shedding on Saturday.

The rally started its march from Azeem Colony and terminated at the Sakrand Road where the protesters staged a sit-in.

The protesters including Kamran Mahar, Amjad Bughio and Raja Ujjan complained that the Hesco had imposed unannounced load-shedding on their localities for long subjecting area people as well as small businessmen to unbearable hardships.

They said that the power failure also caused scarcity of water and demanded that the chief executive of Hesco should direct the officials concerned to restore normal supply of power to their areas.

TEST: A total of 5,463 candidates including females from various parts of the district appeared in the written test for the posts of primary school teachers at the Bahria College on Saturday.

Strict security arrangements were made with about 300 police personnel including policewomen and 50 personnel of rangers deployed in and around the venue for the test, which was conducted by the Sukkur branch of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA).

The test organisers expelled some 150 candidates for violating the rules and regulations, which led to protest by some candidates.

They alleged that the invigilators had misbehaved with them and claimed that they did not violate any rule.

Nisar A. Siddiqui, director of the Sukkur brach of IBA confirmed that about 150 candidates were expelled for violating the rules and regulations and said that the procedure for written tests in 23 districts of the province had now been completed.
