HYDERABAD, Aug 4: The All-Pakistan Paramedical Association took out a big rally from Liaquat University Hospital up to the press club on Saturday in protest against delay in acceptance of their demands.

The provincial chairman of the association, Mohammad Saleh Ghaho, president Mohammad Ali Jatoi, general secretary Akbar Ali Khoso led the rally.

The leaders demanded that the employees should be upgraded according to length of their service, employment should be given to the children of expired and unfit employees as per the notification of the chief secretary, employment quota for the children of retired and in-service employees should be fixed and ad hoc employees should be confirmed in service.

They demanded that the employees, who had passed various courses, should be given promotions, the salaries of lady health workers, supervisors and drivers working under the National Health Programme should be increased and they should be confirmed, rural allowance of Rs3,000 per month as announced by the chief minister should be granted and service structure of all cadres should be formulated.

DEMO: A large number of PML-N activists including women staged a demonstration outside the press club on Saturday to celebrate the release of central acting president of the party, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi.

They danced to the beat of drums and trumpets and distributed sweets. Meanwhile, the chief of Awami Tahreek, Rasool Bux Palijo welcomed the release of Javed Hashmi and said that he was an indefatigable fighter for the cause of democracy.

RAIN FORECAST: Additional Relief Commissioner of Sindh quoting Director General of Pakistan Meteorological Department said that heavy rains would start within next 24 hours (Sunday evening).

In this connection, the additional relief commissioner directed all the District Coordination Officers of the province to take all preventive measures to minimize loss of life and property.

He said that the relief centres should be established if situation warranted and rain report be communicated regularly to his office.
