LARKANA, Aug 4: Pakistan People’s Party would not accept President Gen Pervez Musharraf in uniform, opposition leader in Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said here on Saturday.

He was speaking at a training workshop of women political workers held under the auspices of National Democratic Institute (NDI).

Terming this year ‘decisive’ Nisar lashed out at Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) for its alleged ‘duplicity’.

He said that the MMA was sitting with the PML in assemblies and enjoying power.

He criticised the MMA and alleged that they switch loyalties whenever suited them.

“The MMA announced tendering resignations on ‘Bugti’s issue’ and women protection bill but they did not keep their word as its leadership kept on changing its stance.”

He said that Nawaz Sharif convened the All Parties Conference on the advice of MMA and later “MMA played their game”.

The moment the new alliance took birth from the APC, the PPP decided to part ways, Nisar said.

He appreciated the efforts of the NDI for imparting training to women political activists and underlined the need of women’s participation at union council level politics.

He criticised Sindh government for deliberately blocking 32 motions the PPP had submitted related to different issues of women.

He opined that rights could only be obtained in a political framework and asked educated women to come forward and play their role.

Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto, the key trainer, urged the participants to focus on creating awareness among village women and called for sensitising about their constitutional and political rights.Faryyal Akhtar Brohi, Hafeezan Abbasi, Arbab Bhutto, Naseem Bhutto, Nawab Khatoon, Hairan Begum, Aisha Khoso and others also spoke on the occasion.

Women political workers drawn from different political parties from Larkana, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Kashmor and Qambar-Shahdadkot attended this workshop.

Arrest: A police head constable, main suspect in murder of four members of a family, including an infant, was arrested and produced before the court here on Saturday.

The fourth judicial magistrate Larkana remanded Mohammed Mithal Narejo in police custody for two days. Dari police (investigation wing) produced him in the court.
