HYDERABAD, Aug 9: People’s Party Parliamentarians MPA Sassui Palijo said on Thursday that the election commission’s failure to start registration of voters in Thatta district despite Supreme Court's orders was a conspiracy against genuine voters.

In a statement faxed to Dawn she urged the election commission to take notice of deletion of genuine voters names as well as inclusion of fictitious and outsider’s names in the lists.

She said that she had formed committees of educated people of different union councils of the district to ensure people got registered as voters, especially women living in remote areas.

British diplomats

The first secretary of the British High Commission in Islamabad, James Revell and Sheharyar Khan of the British High Commission, on Wednesday night called on Awami Tehrik leader, Ayaz Latif Palijo and exchanged views on the obtaining situation in the country.

According to Mr Palijo, he told the diplomats that the solution to the existing crisis laid in the grant of complete provincial autonomy, end to misappropriation of Sindh's natural resources and water, announcement of fair NFC award and removal of ‘terrorist’ government. He said that it could be made possible only if a democratic government came to power and the supremacy of law and constitution was restored.

The British diplomat said that their government had so far given financial aid for the rehabilitation of rain and flood affected people of Sindh and Balochistan.

Demonstration

A large number of people from Agriculture Colony, Shahbaz Colony, Sindhu Nagar and a number of other areas staged a demonstration in Tandojam on Thursday in protest against artificial load-shedding and misbehaviour of Hesco officials.
