DADU, March 11: Five people including a woman and three children were killed and 40 others were injured in an accident when a Daulatpur-bound bus fell into a ditch on the Bhan Saeedabad by-pass, some 35 kms from here, on Monday.

The bus (P-0092) first hit an electric pole before falling into the ditch as a result of which five people — Sabhai Khamiso (60), Hasban Otha (35), Khair Mohammed (10), Ghulam Sarwar (10), and Amir (8) were killed on the spot and 40 were injured.

The bus driver fled immediately.

Ten of the injured were taken to the Civil Hospital Dadu as their condition was stated to be critical.

HELD: Nine people including five police officials of the Sehwan Sharif police station were arrested and its SHO was suspended during a raid at a narcotics den near the shrine of Juman Jati in Sehwan on late Sunday night.

On a tip-off, the ASP, Sehwan, Mujahid Akbar, raided the den and arrested five people — Shero Solangi, Iqbal Solangi, Din M. Solangi, Shahzado Solangi, and Fooque Solangi. Police seized 66 grams of heroin from their possession.

They told the ASP that they were selling narcotics under the patronage of five police officials of the Sehwan Sharif police station: SHO Ghulam Sarwar Zardari, ASI Abdul Rehman Hingoro, ASI Syed Najaf Shah, Head Constable M. Ali Lashari, and Constable Khadim Hussain.

The ASP ordered that all five policemen be arrested. SHO Zardari was suspended.

A case has been lodged vide crime No12/2002 under sections 9-A, 109 PPC against the accused.
