KARAK, Aug 10: MMA member of National Assembly from Karak Maulana Shah Abdul Aziz alleged on Friday that President Pervez Musharraf had led the army astray from its basic motto of faith, discipline and jihad to prolong his rule in the country.

Maulana Aziz, who was arrested after the Lal Masjid operation, was addressing public meetings after his release from the Adiala Jail here on Friday.

He said President Musharraf was responsible for the killing of what he claimed 1400 students during the Lal Masjid operation.

He demanded of the Supreme Court to take a suo motu notice of the killing. Earlier, the MNA was brought in a procession to Karak city from Mithakhel village where he addressed a public gathering.

Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf MPA Mian Nisar Gul Kakakhel also spoke on the occasion.
