CHITRAL, Aug 14: Chitral District Nazim Maghfirat Shah took notice of the absence of government officers from an Independence Day function held at a local school on Tuesday.

The nazim regretted that despite being invited, no government functionary attended the function which showed that they did not care much for events of national importance.

He said higher authorities would be informed of the issue and disciplinary action would be taken against the officers who did not attend the function.

He said the officers’ absence had sent a wrong message to the public and such attitude would not be tolerated in future.

Meanwhile, speakers on the occasion highlighted the importance of the day and said independence had been achieved due to sacrifices rendered by people across the length and breadth of united India.
