Policeman dies in grenade attack

BANNU, Aug 18: A policeman was killed and four other personnel suffered injuries when unidentified persons hurled a grenade at a checkpoint here on Kaki Road on Saturday night.

Official sources told Dawn that two unidentified persons riding a motorcycle had thrown the grenade in the Yak Qabar area in the jurisdiction of Mandan police station, a troubled spot on the outskirts of the district where frequent attacks against personnel of law-enforcement agencies have occurred in the past.

The deceased policeman was identified as Abdullah Khan. The injured policemen were taken to the hospital.
